HE Dr. Namira Negm, African Union Council Legal Counsel has described the period during which Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz chaired the African Union as a very important period, during which a lot of achievements have been accomplished for the benefit of the continent.
Regarding the organization by Mauritania of the 31st session, the African official said in a press statement today in Nouakchott that it would be honorable for Mauritania and the Arab and African worlds in the eyes of the rest of the world.
The AUC counsel added it was an opportunity to thank the Mauritanian Government for the great efforts it has made to accelerate the work in the summit venue.
As for the specificity of Nouakchott summit, Dr. Nagm explained that holding the African summit in Nouakchott represents a qualitative leap in the level of Mauritanian-African relations, adding that it is also an opportunity to highlight Mauritania’s ability to host a summit of this size.
The AUC legal counsel talked of the high hope placed on this summit to promote common African action, saying it will adopt the annexes to the African Continental Free Trade Area, which will be a major and qualitative achievement of the Nouakchott summit.
