Mauritanian Government approved, during its weekly meeting on 28 June 2018, under the presidency of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, a draft law allowing the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to complete the legal procedure for the ratification of the agreement establishing the African Free Trade Zone concluded in Kigali (Rwanda) on 21 March 2018.

The Kigali agreement will enable Mauritania to take advantage of the ample development opportunities in Africa’s vast economic space and lift all restrictions and barriers that have hampered the exchange of goods and the movement of people across the continent.

The 31st AU summit, to be held in Nouakchott, Mauritania, on 1and 2 July, will discuss a special report on Africa’s Free Trade Zone, through which the AU seeks region economic integration and comprehensive development.
